I feel slightly optimistic that at least a fraction of humanity will rebel. We are, after all, innovators and, thanks to our ego, we want other people to know that we innovated. I suspect that we will diverge, as we so often do, into two main groups. We will have those that don't care that an LLM provides us with recycled human output and those that do, and reject it.
Certainly those predatory journals need to be gone as their VP is to provide word soup. In a way we can thank the LLM and the journals' own laziness that their quality level is truly exposed. We can also be thankful that they failed to take the time to use automation to check for the term "As an AI ...."
